Olafur Elliason attended the royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen from 1989 to 1995.He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions worldwide and his work is represented in public and private collections including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (NY) and the Tate Gallery (London). The Weather Project(2003) is among his most popular works ; he also designed the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion (2007) in collaboration with the award-winning Norwegian architect Kjetil Thorsen.
In a very poetic way Elliason’s work encourages our sensitive evaluation of the surroundings and makes us wonder how we take part of the present world. It is a fusion of art and architecture – in terms of spatial creativity. His so called “produced nature” is perhaps the next step towards the interpretation of climatic events and natural phenomena as part of everyday life.
