Recently, we found an interesting retrospective book, wrote by the bulgarian architect- Lyubomir Shinkov. The book is entitled “The Architecture” and discusses problems concerning the cultural, political and social life during the period 1945-1990, all from an architectural viewpoint.

Arch.Lyubomir Shinkov is one of the major figures in bulgarian modernism and his work consists of a large range of projects…. but what we found quite interesting in particular is a project that might seem far less significant: a bus station, located at the “Dianabad” district in Sofia. This small construction is a origami-like, folded metal sheet painted in white (of course).

We are posting some information about that project not only because of the design, that we found extremely elegant, but also because we discovered the same design patterns in some contemporary artist’s works:

“XILE”- last year’s winner in the “interior design” category- is a project by the swedish designer Mats Karlsson and represents a flexible, plastic tunnel that can be used indoors and outdoors as well.
